Introduction

This handbook with instructions to install XYZA Linux, along with instructions to install some basic packages. This guide also has some musings on life. Unix, and various Linux distros, are designed based on certain philosophies. Also, have you ever seen an old computer scientist's website, like Donald Knuth's? Maybe it will end up like that.

What is XYZA Linux?

XYZA Linux is a simple, "lightweight" Linux distro designed to provide an idealized version of using Linux. It is not very powerful or functional, and really only exists for looks, but it is to be used as a remedy for those who continuously hunger to install Linux on another device (a device they might not even have yet). It can run on any machine you throw at it. It has a custom package manager, qinst, uses the sysvinit init system, and allows for use of both GNU or alternatives, although none of that really matters, because you don't need to use this system. That is okay though, because if you did, you would hate it, because you wouldn't be able to do anything. A common criticism the XYZA Linux development team gets is that we should have gone into philosophy and studies aesthetics, but that doesn't sound as fun as pretending to use Linux.

Who should use XYZA Linux?

Anyone would be welcome to use XYZA Linux. Really, the question should be, "Who shouldn't use XYZA Linux?" The answer to that question is: anyone who wants more than an operating system to run. If that is you, then please, do not follow this guide. We support you in your Linux journey. We hope you enjoy installing Arch, Artix, Debian, Gentoo, Void, whatever you please. However, if you are itching to "install Linux," be our guests.

Please send kind regards to @graph100 on Discord. Do no more though; they do not want their inbox flooded, but the knowledge that someone got something out of XYZA Linux is something incredible to everyone on the development team, and we are all greatly thankful for you, reader.
